The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) University of Nigeria, Nsukka chapter has ordered the suspension of the Deanship election scheduled for today at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium of the school.

As at 9:45 am when the members of ASUU led by its Chairman, Dr. Christian Opata came to the venue to disrupt the proposed election while chanting the "solidarity forever" song, but discovered that the hall was under lock and key.
When the union saw that there was nothing going on, they immediately turned back to the hall where they were said to be holding their congress. However, it was gathered that one of them was asked to stay back to monitor events and alert the union if the faculty insists on holding the election.
A member of Union who spoke to The Starlite Newspapers on condition of anonymity said members rose from the Congress to be at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium to ensure that the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences did not go on with its planned Deanship election adding that no faculty will be allowed to conduct her election while the union is on strike.
Speaking, one of the voters in the election who also did not want his name on print said that with the look of things, it was not clear if the election would hold considering that two hours after the scheduled time, nobody from the University administration had come to conduct the election.
