Member representing Nsukka/Igbo Eze South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Mark Chidi Obetta has unequivocally denied news making the rounds that he had left his party, the Labour Party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a very short video posted online, Obetta said he had not joined the ruling APC stressing that he was still a staunch member of the Labour Party.

Recall that on February 11 this year, news broke that Honourables Chidi Obetta, Chimobi Atụ and Sunday Umeha all from Enugu State had concluded arrangements to switch over to APC.

While Hon. Umeha was seen in a video having meetings with the National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Ganduje, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, the Enugu State APC chairman, Ugo Agballa and other stalwarts, Hon. Chidi said he was in far away France and was never part of the meeting. Although he immediately debunked the rumour that he had joined APC through a tarse statement from his media handlers, he decided to personally respond to the story when he was visited by his supporters in Nsukka.
He said: "I have not joined any other party apart from Labour Party".

In that statement put out by his media handlers, Hon. Obetta acknowledged that although there were overtures and pressure to decamp, he said he would not shift to any platform until his supporters accept to move.
